Karl Von Busse Institute of Design

Hello! So this week I've been doing my wok experience at Karl Von Busse, and I have to say that I actually enjoyed it very much.

Day 1 - Monday, 25th November
  • In the morning I walked it to the place and on the way I saw Emily, Steffi and Lisa de Piero. So we decided to just wait for everyone to arrive and go in together since the place actually looked really intimidating!
  • Went inside got all our forms and IDs done and we just got introduced to everyone and what we were going to be doing this week.
  • So the plan was that today we would focuse on interior design, tomorrow on fashion, the third day on graphic design and then finish it off on Thursdy with a little graduation with a certificate and a showing of our portfolios (everything we have done and made throughout the week) as well as a interview. I know already that I'm going to fail the interview :(
  • For the rest of the day we focused on interior design and we basically went online and made a imaginary living room/dining room for ourselves and had another activity to deal with the spacing of furniture in rooms and houses.
  • Everyone was really into it and we just focused on creating our own individual rooms for the rest of the day and then printed it all out for or portfolios.
  • I know that doesn't sound like a lot of work but that lasted until 3:30... Well we did have an hour lunch break but still it was a pretty long time.
  • I didn't 100% like my room but it was somewhat the way I wanted it to be.
  • After we all left I met up with Sandy and we just roamed around city looking for shoes and what not for formal. Yeah it didn't work too well since we ended up just getting udon to eat... Typical of the both of us. It was so worth it though. So good. I'll just look for all my stuff another time. I got this!
Day 2 - Tuesday, 26th November
  • Today was our fashion day! One of the best days.
  • Our teacher/guide for the day was Grant and holy shit his illustrations are amazing. They were are so pretty and I just they were so pretty and good and down right amazing.
  • So Grant went through the whole procedure of making his illustrations. First we started off with finding a image we would like as our fabric and then print that out. Next we would decide what the clothing would be and then cut it out.
  • Now is the difficult part. We were given a template of a model to copy but the hard part was trying to colour it. Grant was nice enough to lend us his markers but geez I don't know how he made it so pretty. When I first started one of the arms legit turned brown. I wasn't even planning to make my model that tan in the first place. But oh the wonders of photoshop. I love how photoshop can pretty much fix anything but I hate how I can't use it properly. Why are there no instruction on photoshop?!! How do you even. It is so god damn complicating for a first timer and is just really really frustrating.
  • But once I finished my model I was so proud heehehehe. And everyone else's was really good especially Harriet's and Vivian's (girl from a different school that ended up in our work experience session).
Day 3 - Wednesday, 27th November
  • Graphic design day. And I'm just going to say that it was my least favourite. I didn't like it at all.
  • The whole day was just photoshop. Photoshop, photoshop, photoshop.
  • We were given the task to make magazine covers on photoshop and ugh I was just so annoyed because I don't get photoshop!!!!
  • We spent the whole day just playing on photoshop and I get it a bit more now but I don't understand how Judy and Lisa are so good at it. Apparently it takes a lot of practice but still how can you be so bothered with something that frustrates you so much?!
  • By the end of the day I ended up with two magazine covers and since I suck at photoshop there wasn't much editing done but eh
Day 4 - Thursday, 28th November
  • Last day of work experience!
  • So the whole day was kind of just a bludge. We got a full tour of the entire place by Jac (head of graphic design).
  • Everyone focused on their own thing but by the end of the day we were all like 'fuck it cbf'. So we just ended up talking and what not.
  • Finished my portfolio hehehe
  • Had my interview and I forgot the name of the lady who interviewed me but I remember Jac saying that she's just like a grandmother who's really sweet and omfg she was the nicest most kindest person in the world
  • So yeah once we finished I went home and got ready and waited for my mum to get ready. Then we went off to Karl Von Busse Instituite of Design.
  • We got there a bit late which was awkward since everyone has to go up by elevator and once we walked in it was so crowded and just so awkward since Karl was in the middle of his speech...
  • We got settled in and Karl went on about how we should all go towards a career we are interested in and all that crap.
  • And then certificates! Heheeh only real reason I came. And I ended up seeing Patty! Wished her a happy 16th :)
  • Showed my mumsie my competed portfolio and omg she started taking pictures of it HAHA. Such a cute mum love her
  • Left the place after a while and then ended up just roaming around city with my mum since we hardly go shopping with each other.
  • Ended up getting something to drink and eat and she bought me new skin care products that I needed since I started running out hehehe
  • It's so cute how she's so amazed about discovering new things since she hardly goes city all that much to just roam around. Such a cutie.
  • Got home and had a criminal minds marathon. I currently have a love/hate don't wanna watch this anymore phase. It's good but I get so creeped out after watching too many episodes.
  • Okay that's all! Soz you had to read all that but since you made it this far, I'll add in some special photos for ya

My beloved baby. I actually had a great time making this and I made it entirely by myself. Everything! heeheheh

Aaaaand group photo!
